Artur Beterbiev vs. Callum Smith date, start time, odds, schedule, price & card for 2024 boxing fight
Hearts sank when an injury to Artur Beterbiev postponed his unified light heavyweight championship defense against Callum Smith, but a new date and venue have thankfully been locked in. The pair will now collide at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City on January 13, 2024.
Artur Beterbiev's unified light heavyweight championship defense against Callum Smith on Aug. 19 has been postponed as Beterbiev deals with a bone infection to his jaw, Top Rank announced Sunday.
The infection was a result of dental work, sources told ESPN.
The timetable for Beterbiev's recovery is unclear at this time. The 38-year-old, ESPN's No. 8 pound-for-pound boxer, was slated to fight in his adopted hometown of Quebec for the first time since December 2021.
The fight is expected to be rescheduled for later this year or early in 2024, per sources.
Beterbiev (19-0, 19 KOs) is boxing's only champion with a 100% knockout rate. The Russia native is coming off a thrilling eighth-round TKO victory over Anthony Yarde in January in London.
Beterbiev (19-0, 19 KOs) is the only world champion with a 100 percent knockout ratio. The 38-year-old boxer-puncher won the IBF title in 2017 and has since unified the WBC and WBO crowns. Among his signature wins are Gabriel Campillo (KO 4), Oleksandr Gvozdyk (TKO 10), Joe Smith Jr. (TKO 2), and Anthony Yarde (TKO 8).

"It's a few months later than originally planned, but I am thrilled that Artur Beterbiev will have a chance to defend his titles in front of the incredible Quebec City fans," said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. "Artur has a clean bill of health, and I know Callum, a supremely talented former champion, will be at his best on January 13."
Smith, who hails from Liverpool, England, is a former WBA and Ring Magazine super middleweight champion. Like Beterbiev, "El Mundo" is known for his explosive punching power, which has been responsible for ending 21 of 29 fights inside the distance. The challenger holds wins over George Groves (KO 7), Lenin Castillo (KO 2), and Mathieu Bauderlique (KO 4).
The Sporting News now tells you all you need to know about this hard-hitting light heavyweight championship fight.
